The Most GOOD Character in Soulsborne ELDEN RING

soup_doctor: Haven't watched yet, answer is Solaire. His bug possession doesn't count.

pingpong5877: Boc the seamster was my main motivation for becoming Elden Lord. His goodness and innocence touched me. I knew then and there that I would be a lord for those abandoned by the grace of gold. Humanity is not exclusive to those who call themselves human.

FalseShepherd: The ivory King really just said "And?" When he found out who Alsanna really was. He literally said "I can Fix her" And he did. That is beyond a Chad move. Man was a True King.

punishedvenomsnake716: The Burnt Ivory King, my beloved. Dark Souls II is so GOATed, my favorite of the trilogy

Drangleic72: It's also worth mentioning the bearer of the curse dude did a lot of good deeds and even made sure make lucitel name remembered forever even in elden ring world

von123-1: Gwyn made a pact with the demons for the distribution of humanity

The ivory king placed his throne right above the chaos and said fucking try me

mimikyootxo: I think Gilbert from Bloodborne deserves an honorable mention. We never see his face, but after being shut out by everyone else he is kind, sympathetic, and helpful to our hunter despite being sick himself. When he finally succumbs to the beast plague later in the game, it's disheartening to lose him since he was probably the closest thing to a friend the hunter had besides the Doll.

TenShiningTowers: I'd say out of Elden Ring at least Roderika and Hewg are definitely up there

TheAshHeritor: Not Pontiff Sulyvahn. I'll tell you that much.

Gangfang: Patches. He hasn't done a single bad thing ever.

Frieth: For Dark Souls 3 - I would consider Siegward himself - he does not have the failures that foster the suffering that Yhorm has. He even cleans up his old friend's failures.

For Elden Ring - I would consider St. Trina. We know the other halves of Gods and Demigods are truly different beings. St Trina seems to have been in tune with Miquella during his best moments, but diverged in thought and motive when he strays from the path.

Even so, fun video and good lists.

OldManSakaki: Nepheli Loux is another good one for Elden Ring

goroakechi6126: I’d also like to suggest Lady Maria as someone for Bloodborne’s kindness. Unlike Iosefka or the Odeon chapel dweller, she was given martial ability and authority as a noblewoman of Cainhurst, yet continuously makes good calls with leaving the hunt after the hermit village, abandoning the healing church when the experiments become too much, and defending the child whom she scorned in the afterlife.

To me, being good isn’t about the absence of bad deeds. It’s about being able to reform and be better after them, something every other character in Bloodborne fails to do.

magimon91834: Best souls II strikes again

Mario-SunshineGalaxy64: “kind, self sacrificing, and brave” describes Miquella but he’s most definitely grey, a lighter shade of grey but no one that reaches for greatness in the Lands Between has their hands clean.

heibk-2019: Nepheli Loux came to my mind.

"I witnessed a sight much the same, in my infancy.

The oppression of the weak. Murder and pillage unchecked.

A waking nightmare, made by men.

But this time, I'm a woman grown.

And though the suffering cannot be undone, I can still mete out justice.

Justice to the oppressors."

Also W for using OG Demons Souls footage, not the remakes

kellinnovak58: Before watching this I'd like to mention siegland, siegmeyer's daughter from ds1 she's overlooked a lot

rickkcir2151: I would make the argument that Gael is the most morally good in DS3, and potentially the entire series.

As a slave knight. He was completely dispensable. No one cared about him, no one loved him. But he dedicated his life to help create a perfected painted world for the oppressed and downtrodden. Even after empires collapsed around him, and eons went by. He continued, to get the dark soul for the pigment. All so the most vulnerable could have a safe place to live. A place he knew he would never get to live in himself.

noirangel6416: Damn straight!

Hands down Ivory King is my absolute favorite Soulsborne character.

ebbiilizard8954: Sif , the best boy ever.

Dangerman-zg3ui: Nepheli Loux IMV would've been my choice for Elden Ring. A morally consistent character who fights against Injustice and rejects her adopted "father" and will likely rule Stormveil and surrounding lands justly.

Zwarlie: So happy to see the Ivory King getting the attention he deserves. DS2 was my first souls game and the Ivory King has always stuck with me for being such a selfless and heroic character in a game and series where darkness and hopelessness are so pervasive.

I think part of the reason he sticks with me and so many people is that he never hesitated to show affection to Alsanna, a fragment of Manus, one of the most destructive beings in the Dark Souls world. Even though she represented a fragment of a less destructive part of Manus, it makes me wonder if Elana and Nadalia could’ve ended up differently had they been treated with more affection. Nashandra, though, that’s another story.

Great vid as always!

HerraHissi: Honorable mention: Elden Ring - Spirit Ashes. It would be a tedious task to read and measure each, but a lot of them gave themselves willingly to be used in battle. They are like martyrs of the lore. I think one of them could even be the most morally good.

severalpunchman2698: I think it's a shame that Dark Souls 2's relative lack of popularity among the fanbase has led to a lot of people not appreciating just how GOAT'd of a dude the Ivory King was.

Your video has also made me realize how often the kinder characters in Souls games fit into the category of "Cursed to a terrible or evil existence, but uses that cursed existence to try to help others". Either in obvious ways like The Fair Lady literally being mutated into a Spider Monster. Or in less literal ways, like Yhorm ruling over a population who unjustly hates him. The Souls games often focus on themes of cursed existences, and bleak worlds where everything is ultimately doomed, posing the question "What do you do when everything seems destined to fail?". And I wonder if these kinder characters are intended to be an endorsement of selflessness or a criticism of it?

I could see both arguments. On the one hand, they are consistently the most loved, and respected characters of their games, for being beacons of hope. So you could interpret that as the game saying "The best thing you can do in a terrible situation is still try your best to help people". On the other hand, you could point out that almost every single one of these stories ends tragically, and in some cases despite their selflessness, many of these people fail to actually save anyone. This is especially prominent with characters like Miquella and Yhorm. So in that sense, it could be interpreted as "This sort of unrelenting selflessness is admirable, but ultimately ineffective.". I don't have a strong stance either way, I just think it's interesting to think about.

Also, a video on how Miquella has been mistreated in the community? Honestly we need more voices with this opinion. Ever since the DLC dropped, I have been consistently surprised at how the fanbase of a series known for it's morally grey characters, has somehow taken such a black and white stance on one of it's most interesting morally grey characters. Super disappointing imo. Cos it's cut out the opportunity for some really interesting discussions. Even just the question: Would you be willing to give up some of your freedom for the sake of an objectively happier life" is such an incredibly interesting question, and it ties into some interesting real life concepts of how we already do give up large amounts of freedom in the real world for the sake of safety and happiness, in exchange for rules, laws, and unacceptable behaviours / beliefs. I feel like I could have a conversation with someone for hours just on that alone. But conversations rarely ever get that far cos they just default to him being evil lol We need more people like yourself bringing the discussion back to somewhere reasonable where conversation can actually happen.

tnntaronewsnetwork4514: Maiden Astraea is good but I do think The Maiden in Black is better. It is easier to be good and remain good than to be born evil and choose to be good for hundreds of years. The Maiden in Black gets nothing out of her duty, but still chose to help the world against her fellow demons, was willing to teach magic to the likes of King Allant when he was still good, and doesn't begrudge the player for trying to kill her. For a being described as one of the strongest demons and the only one capable of speaking with The Old One it would have been easy for the Maiden in Black to be a scourge on the world, and yet she doesn't and has allowed herself to be locked in the Nexus since before the Old One first awakened

ethanlennon7721: I’m surprised not to see Vyke mentioned in other comments. He sought lordship, but didn’t wish to sacrifice his maiden, so turned to the frenzied flame. Even after becoming a potential lord of chaos, Vyke (presumably) chose to imprison himself instead, even after the death of his maiden.

Despite his power and ambition, Vyke refused to sacrifice his own personal morals even if it might have turned out better to sacrifice his maiden in the first place.
