Noklateo Shrouded Eternal City and the Darkmoons Bloodstar Eclipse Elden Ring Nightreign Lore

JackisaMimic: The woman with the jars is pouring out the Noklatte the Eternal Cappuccino

zefd830-i8q: thought we could ignore nightreign lore but they put too much interesting stuff GG

ultragamer4465: Nameless Eternal City lore is not what i was expecting

whitediamond8507: Something very interesting I just noticed today is that the Primordial Nightlord's Rune is colored like the Rune of Death, but the rune itself looks like Marika's rune.

Which, to me, makes perfect sense- In the base game, the Erdtree "replaces" the cycle of life and death in the form of the grace-given being reborn after death. The only people who are a part of this cycle are the grace-given, people who are cursed or worship a different god aren't given "rest". (You can argue that the grace-given aren't given rest either, though.)

If the "Sin" of the Erdtree is that it is, in fact, a conduit of death and those who accept it's blessings are selling their "soul" to the Erdtree... The Nox seeing that and attempting to create life outside of that cycle would be (and is considered) blasphemous.

However, The Nox succeeding in creating their Nightlord and "cheating" the Greater Will out of it's Eternal god by replacing it with their own.... Which, in turn, breaks time and creates a bunch of time splinters where the world is ended by scions of that God...

It somewhat explains why the Greater Will punished them so severely in the base game. If THIS is the consequence of their Age of Night, it makes sense why the Greater Will itself would rather the Nox be erased entirely. And why Ranni ushers in an Age of Stars, rather than an Age of Night.

To speculate more- I'd assume the night of black knives was conducted on the promise that Ranni would usher in an Age of Night and be their God of Night, and she was taught how to sever herself from her empyrean flesh in order to achieve that. But because Ranni is a liar, and doesn't want to be controlled by anyone, as soon as she was free from the Greater Will's influence she abandoned the black knives and their quest for their Age of Night. Ranni doesn't want the world to end, she wants it to continue in such a way that people have free will and look to the stars to follow their path like her ancestors did. And when the black knives finally realized what she was doing, they moved in to kill her- signified by their presence at the end of her quest by her trusted advisors.

Actually seeing what the Nox's "Age of Night" entails is truly a cosmic horror, and I love it. It really is different than Ranni's Age of Stars, with how scary she made it seem.

adrienalbright: i believe “nok-“ is actually their word for CITY, making “nox” their word for PEOPLE. this would make Nokron the City of Strength, Nokstella the City of Stars, and Noklateo the Hidden City

LadyCorvia: Now we just need someone to combine shadowkeep, noklateo and leyndell onto one map

Trooth: The Great Stars Mace showing what may be three moons is very interesting. I was surprised to not hear mention of the fact that we find Ranni in a location called "Three Sisters" as I think this is likely an intended parallel.

My personal crackhead theory is that the "moon" and "dark moon" we see in-game were created through the Nox chair-crypt rituals, and that the moon in Ranni's ending is a third one, signifying the culmination of all this generational planning.

JohnYouTube925: I strongly believe that Marika has all these "connections" to all these groups of people and races because they took one of everything and put it in a pot with her (whoever she was before becoming a god) as the shaman catalyst. Perhaps her identity and memories were wiped when she became a new being. Which is why when she learned about the hornsent she went crazy on them. So Radigon was a red haired misbegotten thrown into the pot, but obtained enough power within Marika to eventually become his own identity. A lot of the story of Marika makes more sense to me when seen through this lens, that she's like one of every group of people all contained into 1 body with one dominate personality, but it's a constant power struggle internally to take control. Kind of like mimicking the outside world of Elden Ring.

paulcashion8049: I would LOVE one day to see a panel of our favorite lore tubers with GRRM asking and fielding questions about the lore. The mystery is a huge part of what we love but that would be a dream come true to see.

ZeroN1neZero: so nightreign is somewhat filling in the gaps of the main game. fucking delicious. thank you for this meal, Infa

tristanneal9552: This has by far been your most compelling recent video imo. Not because the other videos are bad by any means, but the evidence for this one is just SO GOOD. It really got the wheels turning

deadasfak: Dang I didn't expect Nightreign to be lore heavy or lore relevant at all

darkeather2: Infa, you've basically become my defacto source of Elden Ring lore analysis. There's quite a few other youtubers who's theories I like and enjoy thinking about, but yours are the ones that I actually believe. You're doing a phenomenal job putting all these ideas together into something incredibly cohesive.

mdcandronic: I thought the lateo part sounds kinda milk-adjacent, and it gave me the mental image of the Milky Way. A big galaxy on the night sky. If Nokstella is a single star, Noklateo would be the capital, the galaxy on the sky. But i haven't looked up the actual etymology.

gotama7239: Melina's body could really be the fingerslayer blade. She's the vessel of destined death and kindling, what Marika would do to her when we saw Mesmer fate ? and what sin (treason in their words) could have done nox so that they have been completly erased from history?

Metylaner: There is one weapon clone altar more in Nightreign aswell, its an random map event and its inside a walking mausoleum that isnt walking.

Sadly i did not think about taking a Screenshot.

BiziStance: Every new title I read from you gives me a new headfracture trying to keep up with subbranching species lore

IzzalitAbyss: Fromsoft: Haha random cool new city

Fromsoft lore nerds: THIS IS IT! IT MUST BE THE MISSING PIECE OF A PUZZLE I WAS LOOKING FOR FOR SEVERAL YEARS!

TiedotAK: I KNEW IT. I love you Infa this is literally what I was thinking

abydosianchulac2: Small point: they're Vestal Virgins, not Vestigial Virgins.

Kensen_Ackles: The Red King and Black Queen/Lunar Maiden are reflected again in Radagon and Rennala, making me think perhaps the reincarnated will became Ranni, the war perhaps being the set up for this sequel.

I've said it in other video comments (And I'd be happy to collaborate and script write) but I believe the Erdtree is a parasite to the Crucible and the Great Trees, as it is both undying and propagating, but not returning any life to the world. Merely bestowing Grace on the select few. This was likely the sin of the Erdtree, which Marika saw and she began her plan which reflected that of the Nox.

On a different note for the city, I believe the stumps in Deeproot Depths were how Morgott sank the lower city, likely in an attempt to stave off invaders which would explain why everything looks so ruinous compared to the other two.

I mentioned this on the Tarnished Archaeologist's video discussing the missing segment of Leyndell, but we have seen the way the Nox were banished in another way. When Marika banished the center of the Lands Between to the Shadow Realm. This was likely the last it could do as it had been cut off from Metyr and the Lands Between for a time, until the Hornsent and Marika gave it a way back. Only later did she understand her mistake, and that the trees would one day consume everything. So she hatched her plan, the same plan that worked before, but with different pieces moving in new ways to confuse the Greater Will until it was too late to stop her.

Had to jump back in to edit this, but Metyr's castration and the spike we see through Marika which may be the Rune of Death may have been done with the same intended purpose, to cut the Greater Will off from its conduits, thus Marika's plan was successful and the cycle was completed.

Jadizi: Omgggg y'all can't convince me that souls and runes aren't the same thing seen by different people in a different disparity cycle. Also, I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's just as lovely as it looks.

giancarlo5945: The lore of nightreign is peak
