How Will An Elden Ring Movie ACTUALLY Work?

Nemo12417: Elden Ring doesn't need a movie. Bloodborne does, starring Nicolas Cage as the leader of the School of Mensis.

magistermercury: I can't remember who first suggested it, but I like the idea of the movie being about Malenia's march on Caelid and the Shattering in general but told in reverse through flashbacks as Finlay carries her back to the Halingtree. Finlay as a mostly silent protagonist could visit most of the important areas in the Lands Between and encounter several major characters along the way without having too much effect on the overall lore, and of course, like Pheidippides the Marathon messenger, she dies quietly but tragically from exhaustion (and/or rot) at the end.

Lil6Anar6hy6: What scared me from playing Elden ring was just the hearsay of it being the most difficult game ever but when I heard someone say that Elden ring is only as hard as you want it to be so I played it and was over leveled for everything

Comicbroe405: I'm a decent bit excited for this film just cuz it's Alex Garland working on it. The guy hasn't had many misses for me & he's an old gamer.

OKCDEMARCUS: Should be a damn show not a movie

justjustinlolol: Doing an adaptation of the player’s experience would be more suited for a series.

In the form of a movie, I think it makes much more sense to do a standalone film covering just one of the events we know happened—The Night of the Black Knives or the Shattering, for example, with the former being my preferred choice. To me, that provides the most potential for developing characters with interesting arcs and could, conceivably, fit into a single film.

That said, I think the direct input and assistance from Miyazaki, GRRM, or someone else who was involved intimately in developing the story to the extent of having knowledge about things that happened which aren’t explained in game, is absolutely necessary. In a way, I think a movie is actually a brilliant opportunity to expand upon the story by filling in gaps and answering questions we didn’t get in game. Again, that’s assuming Garland has access and help from those who developed the story in its original form.

TheShezarrine: Man I feel you on nothing comparing to it. I don't know if I'll ever play anything that scratches the itch the same way. Build variety alone is absurd.

dennisdavidov782: The best movie would be one centered on The Dung Eater, how he became the way he is, a psychological drama in the vein of many other A24 movies.

fredskull1618: The movie adaptation will not be good for one reason only:

The filmmakers aren’t virgins.

Dark_Tesla: I think the movie will be about Godfrey or Radagon

jeffwoodie4395: Elden Ring: the Night of Black Knives

DustDemonTwilight: this movie will 100% be about some story in universe and not about the tarnished's journey in the game.

For example, Marika's origins.

lydz7451: I'm incredibly excited to see what they come up with for the movie. There are so many stories and characters they could build from. I do feel like they can't base it off the player character. Just waaaaayyyyyy too much. Shout out to being lost without Vaati too

John04700: At the very least, an Elden Ring movie needs to be a trilogy to tell a tight, coherent story. When a movie for the game was announced, based on my experience playing it, I imagined a Hunger Games-like approach. Along the way, the protagonist encounter all the things players experienced during their playthrough of Elden Ring.

As for Bloodborne, I personally haven't played the game, but I explored its lore on YouTube. At that moment, I was convinced that its story truly needs a TV series. The lore needs to be treated like Better Call Saul, where they took their time building the story slowly.

8johh: would love an elden ring video from you

Trozone181: When is the got season 3 retrospective releasing ?

theiberianbadger0123: I think Godfrey would actually be the perfect main character for an elden ring movie. He is the first tarnished after all. He would be a great vehicle to propel us through various events throughout elden ring’s history. Marika’s rise to godhood, the unifying wars of the erdtree, Godfrey’s own tarnishing, seeing the shadow lands before they were veiled and sealed off, how marika and the hornsent coexisted after her ascension and before messmer’s crusade. There’s so much that could be done with the story centered on Godfrey

thepainphantom: Starting with anime serials would be great, such as AoT, Demon Slayers, heck even The Witcher!

ligh7ningx7: i think the easiest thing would be to set up the world with "the shattering" it tells the origin of the world, the main players, and has an ending. even it is super depressing, but this is A24 and Alex Garland, neither of whom have had trouble with that. any follow up can tell the story of Billy/Jane tarnished trying to save the lands between and finding the horrific, nightmarish, diseased conditions all the characters from the first film were left in. a good time had by all, except Mog and Dungeater, screw those guys

TheDiamondSea: My prediction: the movie will mostly focus on the roundtable hold and its cast of Tarnished, the hopelessness they feel in becoming Elden lord. Splice that with the protagonist tarnished fighting some key battles. Ending will probably be ambiguous.

ShadowSlayerX17: An Elden ring movie is just the worst idea

ColtonGamingTV: I personally would like to see something like Marika's ascent to God hood, Messmer's war against the hornsent, the Shatering Wars or Vyke's Journey and becoming corrupted by the Frenzy Flame. Plenty of stories for them to choose from.

Slomoshun4u: Alex Garland doesn't miss and he's on like NG 7 right now so I have complete faith in him.

luc1ferous: Give me the seduction and the betrayal, give me Marika's rise to Godhood, give me the body horror of what the Hornsent did to the Shamans... OR Ranni's whole planning and executing of the Night of Black Knives, end it with Marika breaking over Godwyn and shattering the Elden Ring.

paulcashion8049: They should have done an hbo series of marikas ascension. I think that would have been really cool

davidthurtell4328: What about a TV show set loosely within nightreign. Like each episode dives into each individual nightfarer. So each episode would be like their remeberance questline building towards them all teaming up for the final battle or something like that.

Bboar_969: The story is incoherent filler. Its a combat game the story is just BS
