Heolstor the Nightlord EXPLAINED Elden Ring Nightreign Lore

LMSH: Finally, I can know the lore of the guy who keeps beating me and my team

FrecherAffe: cant believe the algorithm hid this gem from me for 20 seconds

Melon11776: I love that Morgott is the one demigod child of Marika that is still here in the night. Heolstor didn't choose Radahn or Malenia to serve him, but Morgott, the best hunter of them all.

KMn048: Pre watch prediction: He is the nameless hero in Castle Morne that Godfrey defeated, it’s always raining, and he would have been a nameless warrior in front of the hero of the age

LucisNaturae: It’s confirmed in the base game that Erdtree saplings are fueled by blood.

Miquella growing the Haligtree with his blood, and the jars of bodies stored at the base of the minor Erdtrees.

As well as the Erdtree itself feeding on the bodies in the catacombs.

So I believe you’re right, the Cutting-Gifted tribe had to sacrifice countless lives for the blood and sustenance to grow a new tree.

youwy: Nice! Something to watch while editing videos

MYTHONICS: My pet theory was that Heolster was always Wylder, stuck remaking himself at the end each time. The description of the knight, hero, crawling out from bodies, etc, could all been seen as metaphors for the Nightfarers' war... but Heolster being an actual warrior at some point is a bit more interesting

LucisNaturae: I noticed that Heolster’s helm is almost identical to the Helm of Night from the DLC.

The themes of night from that storyline with Yolan also overlaps with Nightreign. They both discuss chaos and the abyss, of a lightless void.

seanb2995: One thing about the original ending when the character fades to gold. There are 8 separate golden strands that move through the roundtable and the entire end credits. I thought this represented each of the nightfarers returning to the erdtree. With only one strand moving to the titan forgoing the rebirth.

LAK_770: The idea about each cosmic tendency (GW, Frenzy, Night) representing an IRL astrophysical idea is too elegant and perfect to not re-iterate. The Greater Will's system of differentiation and order is clearly the Big Bang, this is near-explicit in the text of the game. Both the Three Fingers (via Hyetta) and Ymir give us accounts that unmistakably reference this. Now with the context of NR, Frenzy and Night also fit pretty neatly into this scheme. The ultimate 'regression' of Frenzy is the Big Crunch, in which we return to a singularity. Night is either the Heat Death where everything settles into chaotic oblivion, or the Big Rip where reality tears itself apart, the ultimate 'causality'. Infinity vs. One vs. Zero

BigCheeZe209: Thank you for doing this man. I can't tell you how much more you got me invested into the lore of Elden Ring by finding all of this for us.

ElMasCaporo99: Caligo's origin could be very old. In this game, as you say, time is mixed. We can see that in the playable characters: in revenant's quest we can see that she is from a more modern era of the world for example. I think Caligo, being an ancient dragon of flesh and blood instead of stone, is from an era before the ancient dragons gained the power of divinity by obtaining the elden ring and becoming stone. Farum Azula even looks like a gigantic Divine Gate being full of beastmen corpses and dragons embedded in the stone.

TheAuspiciousGoldmask: Hey Smough, glad you made a Nightreign lore vid!!!!

Altho i didn’t bought the game myself, i nontheless think the lore is amazing, Heolstor probably is the cherry on top of everthing.

This being that brands the Moonlight greatsword and seems to be literally one with the night, being just a lightless smoke that seems to represent just the night incarnated.

Anyways thanks for the hardwork again, can’t wait for your individual take on the lesser nightlords as well!!! Have a great week and don’t you dare go hollow.

novahrik4727: I've wondered about Libras origin for a while and how he might be connected to shabriri in some way. Given that Libra takes on a merchant-like appearance and being able to trade off the power of a demon. I thought in some way the merchants from below Leyndel, could've traded for that power. That is why they use the frenzy flame and still have their eyes in base Eldenring, but at the same time, could be the reason why Shabriri spread the rumour of slander, that these merchants made a deal with the devil, in some chaotic type fashion to make fun of them for thinking they could get away with such a deal without considering the price, perhaps. Maybe, since there might be something morally wrong to buy such powers with runes that are connected to the Eldenring and order

Mario-SunshineGalaxy64: Exactly what I needed, a two hour lore video to repel the Night.

greyworld6242: Damn this is awesome!

Interesting how the large sword heolster has looks like the dark moon great sword.

scarlletnull2811: I did not expect nearly 2 hours but I’m here for it

BrettFairchild: I think a compare and contrast between the Night and Frenzy, Nightlord and Lord of Frenzy, is warranted

sj-nj6yh: Heolster is Rick, soldier of God. This is the core truth of Neightreign.

nathanielsearle9822: I like how much more terrifying this video has kind of made the army of titans. If you're right it seems to me the idea of it is that it's dozens of Heolstors from different points in time taking advantage of the temporal flux to march on Limveld all at once

ScumMageInfa: The Nightreign Lore Wave officially begins

darealdovahkiin3652: I thought the identity of the hero who struck Heolstor down being Radagon made more sense, as Radagon is constantly referred to as a nameless champion/hero in item descriptions before his ascension to lord, and, given the timeline, it would make sense that Heolstor would be one amongst hundreds of others (including Tarnished) who attempted to fell the Red Haired Lord after

notgabriel8624: I didn’t expect how much I’d adore this game’s lore, I thought it would take a heavy backseat to gameplay and you’d have to suspend your disbelief for a lot of the concepts, but as per usual with this series everything has a reason. I love it.

ChannelMiner: Love that we finally got to see the Nox nightlord you told us about a while ago.
