goobertizer: before i watch the video, i just have to say your revenant cosplay is spectacular
edub2689: There is something about the absolute horror of Chloe being found by the killer. It's set up so that your left hoping that he doesn't investigate the sound, or at least he investigates the doll and doesn't look around the corner. It cuts to Chloe hunkered down hoping he doesn't find her, only to have her suddenly look up AND THE BASTARD WAS ALREADY STARING AT HER. They could have had him slowly come around the corner like typical horror, but have him already be staring at her for who knows how long and to just linger on that moment for several seconds to let the dread sink in was just chef's kiss. I also think it hints at some sort of eldritch possession as opposed to a robbery of personal killing.
matiasblanco2029: It still hurts so much to watch that cutscene. Poor Chloe. Definitely one of the most brutal and just disturbing things I've seen in a game, maybe ever.
In regards to the Patron thing, down here in South America we mostly use that word to describe someone that is, for example, the head of a family, the one that holds the titles/deeds and so on, or simply the eldest and most respected member of said family. So that might have been what they tried to communicate using that moniker.
callmewulfie: i cant be the only one that felt heavy bloodborne vibes when seeing manor northerncroft for the first time. that final cutscene shows how much potential a proper horror game by fromsoftware has. also what a spectacular cosplay! respect for doing the whole video with one eye shut
hydrierterteev6062: The Mathteacher entering the classroom after the test: "This Place reeks of Failure"
LoreMastergr: A subtle little extra detail that I have no doubt the creators hid on purpose, Daphne translates into the word laurel in greek, like the flower laurel featured so prominently in revenant's main costume. Also I agree that Blackcoat was most likely a benefactor of the family as it would make sence for a family of artisans such as them to hold him in such regard and unless it's a translation oversite, Patriarch would by more fitting if they wanted to say he is the father. ALSO, another video of Chalice holding one eye shut the whole time... the more things change.
nickmolina6513: I could be seeing things incorrectly, but I think the murderer’s hair is red? Maybe that’s why we find the Revenant standing in front of a portrait of Radagon, as he looks just like the person who killed her family
manoking9619: I think Daphne's soul is completely separate from Chloe's, particularly due to her claiming that she was always a doll. Objects having souls is a common concept, so the memories her and Chloe appear to share may be due to the fact that they spent so much time together. I could also easily see her being Chloe reincarnated. As you pointed out, her wounds may reflect Chloe's. That, combined with what we know about puppeteers, is strong evidence that Daphne is fused with- or a reincarnation of Chloe's soul. Her situation is interestingly similar to Executor's.
bidogobedelhobadalo6263: fantastic makeup miss chalice! thanks for the video!
azuln.3760: revenant was by far my favorite in terms of her backstory. from thinking she was chloe to finding out she’s really Daphne, given life through Chloe’s desire to live during her final moments, its quite the beautiful tragedy. through the loss of chloe birthed the life of revenant, who now desires to destroy the night that took her joy away. the difference between her base and remembrance especially hit for me. the rem skin seems to reflect her state when she was first given life, still purely a doll on the outside but still that internal struggle of her true identity lingering on the inside. now she’s as she says in her last journal entry “I was never human. And now, the mantle of doll no longer fits me” but we can see through her appearance/interactions that she’s become just a bit more human than doll, with her base skin having a more natural skin tone and the accessories on her arms and legs that I don’t think reflect a desire to hide her identity as a doll, but to remember the joy she felt when chloe would dress her up in the same way. she also has a line when talking about the nightfarers that goes something like “they’re all fools but I wouldn’t have it any other way” and it was just so sweet. Revy is the best and I will stop at nothing to fulfill her desire for revenge. Wonderful video chalice, sorry for ranting for so long!
BytheCaye: I love the Revenant so much. Really hope she shows up again somehow or is referenced again in a later game.
(Or heck even DLC)
MegaDara999: The murderer and Edgar are certainly different people. The model is very different to the paintings. The broken window makes me believe it was an outsider, corrupted by the night. Or it could be an estranged family member.
I think Edgar is the grandfather mentioned.
dashampootester1274: What I find strange is that after the Revenant regains her memories, she resolves to kill the Nightlord. What connects the Nightlord to Revenant's backstory? The only thing I could think of is that the Nightlord is somehow responsible for Chloe's death. This leads me to one of two theories:
1) The man who killed Chloe was either an agent of the Nightlord or driven to bloodlust by the night.
2) The man who killed Chloe is Hoelster the Nightlord. We're told that the Heolster the Nightlord was a nobody soldier before he took on his mantle, and he also may be Recluses child (that part still confuses me.) Despite how much of a stretch this theory feels, I think it could help to explain as to why the Night is such a bad thing. If the Hoelster was this bloodthirsty, crazy murderer before he became the Nightlord, maybe that's why the Night seems to gather evil monsters and bosses. Maybe that's why the Night seems to simply consume everything in the end.
leifhollmann8198: Your cosplays never miss, miss. You're easily my favorite lore channel
nathanharms5022: I've never heard a voice with an accent like yours that's absolutely pleasant as can be. You do that accent justice. Finally... I could listen to lore by you forever: ))))))
SolaireIntensifies: I'm struggling to not tear up watching this. Her story is so heart wrenching
tehtayziez: You're getting pretty damn good at these videos Chalice. Really well done and probably my favorite cosplay you've done.
AlienToppedPancakes: AAGH! That cosplay is so rad! <3 The makeup has such a cool split!! <3
Plus_Escapee: Radagan had experienced becoming a merger of spirits. Revenant seems to be a convergeance of spirits herself, being a haunted doll that wants revenge for the innocent people the cursed night had taken.
C00l_Whip: Was waiting for vatti to make a video on some of the characters' backstories, but your videos have been everything I wanted to hear and see a clarification on a lot of the lore and theories so thank you :)
Fivesndimes: After this cosplay can't wait to see the bird for the potential guardian video.
samuraichicken9248: Bravo Miss Chalice, you tell these stories with such elegance and thoughtfulness. You, among few, help us learn more about the stories in these games that we love so much. Thank you.
MissMaiaa: That was so beautifully written and executed.
Thank you, Miss Chalice!
