Shopping Cartxainbushido6657: I get what you are saying, but when it comes to something like this you got to look at where it is. The team who original built this doesn't own the game anymore, they sold it to Daybreak. This is important because you need to now know what type of company Daybreak is. Look at it's portfolio. Daybreak is a company that buys aging mmo's and lets them run as long as they make profit and the cost never exceed the value of what it's worth.
Daybreak isn't a company that will innovate or improve, they maintain and keep cost down. To be fair DCUO is only around because it makes enough money that the company say its worth it. I don't know how much or how close, but looking at the bare minimum updates, small things tells me its enough to keep it running but to do anything grand isn't happening.
We won't get a new power set because it requires them to spend resources and test something that requires investment with no known variable of pay off. We will get power augments because its based off what already exist. Because you can adjust numbers because you have the powers already tested knowing how they interact and what it does. The Power Augement is just something you drop on a character and they can suddenly use it. Not a bad thing, interesting to some extent cheap way to try and give the game a feeling of a new power but its not. It also cost the developers next to nothing. It's also clearly going forward another thing they can monetize and make money off of.
Another issue, I am not sure when it specifically happened or what year. The new content is dropped in the current way using the modern blocks, you get a call its a simple line you enter new world and you run around. They build the place which is usually starting with a worlds assetts we have been too, they just add some effects or change some colors. Again it cost them nothing other then time and some labor to do this, cheap easy. An investment they are willing to make because they want players logging in regularly. They use a random new currency, give us a light story to run, one new solo, one new alert, and one new raid. Which usually the alert is actually half of the raid and built it to be homongenoius. Cutting down on time spent in it.
They either use gear that feels like a pallet swap of a previous gear set, move the numbers and we have our gearset. The gear always seems to be as of recent the gear from an existing legacy hero just shifted. Again bare mnimum. We how have a steady 2 levegendary items to level in these new zones, we haven't gotten the second in Argo but I know we will. It extends the play, gives us another item to make use stronger, but most important another currency item that could make money off the ones who want to max it out quick. Any of this wrong? Debatable its how they justify spending the money they do to keep doing drip feed content going, its like I said in another video it feels like it runs on a 6 month content schedule before moving to the next stage plan or the new Zone.
I will cut this part short here, we get a new artifact here and there because they realized one of the playstyles hasn't gotten anything lately. They adjust the numbers and try to make it good so people will invest and still engage with the game. The ally thing? It didn't do what they expected it to do. We all hit our metra picks and moved on. So Daybreak put feats to them to push the idea you need them all, again a cheap thing on there end that will have tangible money return. I mean I don't care because I can choose where my money goes.
Suffice it to say at the end we won't get a sequel because the current makes enough money that it doesn't need it yet. Daybreak won't make a new one, it will ride DCUO till the wheels fall off, and then until the gas tank is empty. Once this mmo actually ends. There is a small window where the genre is completely empty and maybe then we will get a studio who wants to take a stab, they might license the dc rights and we get a sequel it won't be DCUO but thats the only way, but it won't be daybreak, they maintain mmo's and make profit nothing else no innovation nothing and I hate it, but I understand it.
These are all my opinions, but are based loosely on what I know about the company as a whole and what most MMO's look like near the end of their life cycle. DCUO isn't on their rims yet but it could happen if anything new the dev pushes, like the power augment comes out and no one engages with it.
Anyway like the work and the general questions, good luck in your grind here on youtube.
nolanevery3798: If Warner Bros was smart they would of been put this game into an unreal engine 5, and gave it to game company eager to revolutionize that combat system and your looking at one of the best MMorpg to date….
It would have been Warner bros equivalent to GTA 6…. The potential would have been boundless…
AidenWarren: If they get more stuff and the money they can make it work. Move the game to unreal engine 4.
GabeadusGaming: It peaked at nexus of reality.. or even earlier. I was a 2011 og player. I quit in 2015 it was clear it was titanic. They clearly at the woman and children first stage.
I recently came back for nostalgic run and to play end game one last time.
Its rehashed and extremely repetitive and monetization to hell.
What they should do. Is shut down the server.
And build a new engine from ground up. Keep core features/concepts/qualities of life. Reboot the entire franchise sequel called
DCMO DC multiverse online
Let the origin be based on the new 52 dr Manhattan.
Giving the game a starting point for a rebirth and fresh start.
New engine new story . But attempt to recreate 2011-2015 dcuo feel and over all experience.
Have full cinematic cutescenes like the opening of dcuo(still greatest opening credits of all time)
Then have it launch on the ps6/pc/xbox only.
xollyeux: It just needs to have weapon combo chains like TERA which was also on Unreal 3
DominionCraft: Go tell that to many other online games man like WOW or Middle Earth online. dcuo players are just cocky. graphics are fine. only the servers need to be renewed and many other minor/mid things not graphics.
StormingSurgeKnight: I feel like if they stopped updating it and try to make a dcuo 2. It wouldn’t survive tbh and plus they would require a lot of time and money spent doing that as well which eg7 or whoever is using the money from dcuo for other games lol. Need a better company that would give a damn about this game. Crazy how this game still got potential, but it’s not getting the proper love because of the company.
ryuno2097: In today's day and age, i doubt any big western AAA companies would be willing to make a new mmorpg.
Anet is different since they mostly focus on mmorpg, while EA only cares about fast roi. But since they're getting about out, who knows... maybe we might see a new mmorpg if the new saudi owners are a big fan of mmorpg.
shanesworldgaming: Hell no I have many years invested in this game I'm not looking to start all over and I bet a lot of other people aren't either. Look at World of Warcraft there's no sequel for that and it's still going and it's been going even longer than DC It doesn't need a sequel
crowngaming3277: Not gonna happen. Is there a world of warcraft 2? No. This game is essentially the same.
WerePlantDCUO: But them i would lose my 1.000 sp
KevinOwens-b8q: 2 week old youtube channel where a grown man complains endlessly about a video game he can't step away from, so feels the need to be morally outraged that others are still having fun.
Stop hatin' and just take a break.
JamesJohnson-df2zn: You all want those who still cannot afford anything next gen to mot be able to play this game and that is seriously pathetic. People like you are exactly why i stopped playing not to mention followers of a dumbed down society thinking that a big mac and a cup of coffee should be sold for millions on broker.
Heather_Princess: for a childhood game I'd like to see it remade on newer engines so it can also have way more fluid combat and possibly more combat options and even more weapon variety
universestarcloudz: My head wouldve exploded from all this concentration ill have to use
Spanners_the_Monkey: I wonder if A.I. could re write the code over to Unreal 5 better than a Dev, genuine question here from an old timer
Rismble: Wouldn’t licensing be harder to get Sony isn’t behind a new dcuo
TheToyZone00: Only way a 'sequel’ would work, is if the player base could carry over bases, styles and everything they had brought on the Marketplace.
Ahauzotz: My take on this is they simply can't, and it comes down to $$$. Ignore development costs entirely. To use all these DC characters in a new game they'd have to cut a new contract to license those characters from DC/WB. Back in 2011 they probably got a WAY cheaper deal than they would today. I'm talking several extra zeroes now that the MCU is such an industry driver. DC wants that for themselves. They aren't going to license dozens and dozens of characters as easily as they did 15 years ago. Daybreak simply doesn't have enough money.
But Daybreak can buy out the game from SOE and continue developing it under their current licensing agreement.
Could be wrong, but that's my suspicion.
RAWsassin: Facts
DjNajee: Yeah but if they were gonna do it the past would’ve been better because starting from scratch with games like GTA around the corner might not be to smart
lordwicked8855: I loved DCUO but your right needs a new one its so outdated now
regdexter4014: This game looks sad I quit playing 6 years ago it was old looking then
hence2nd: DCUO 2 would cook heavy but I don't see them making it
For some reason 10 year old games
Developers usually don't like making new games and is often inexperienced to work on new stuff
Which why they never make sequels
W.o.w L.O.L TF2 brawlhalla etc even if the game it self is super outdated by modern standards
The classic if ain't broke don't fix it
honore1386: I don't understand why the games with the best IPs (Lotr, Star Trek, Dcuo...etc) are also the crappiest!? HOW?!
daveontaeg18: Devs need to be studied
blackzen3306: That or just stop playing like everyone else has….
