liamjamesharris: I play solo/duo. They needed to remove queues, and they needed change how they balance. I was here for trios only in the beginning. The balance then was more consistent. You cannot balance solos/duos/trios the same. We know this.

Im still gonna play, i can make friends, and teamplay (outside of brainless buffball) is some of the best skill expression in the game.

dorian4171: I bought the game right before they removed solos and dous, its so frustrating. I have to go into trios with randoms when my friends are not online or get annihilated in solo high roller until I improve enough and that option is quite un-enjoyable :( I will continue to play the game in hopes they change it back because this game is really something special.

slicinlunix404: Personally I stopped playing less than 2 weeks into this wipe. Arena was a huge reason for me to keep playing the game once it dropped the first time. You could do goofy builds and try things out without worry of losing them and it was AMAZING PvP practice for the normal lobbies...but they decided to have arena open the first weekend of wipe and then turned it off and allowed people to just buy their gear. The unique changes were cool and interesting but MS just needs to be removed from the enchantment pool entirely (besides agility ofc). Duo is the mode I played the most because I only have 1 friend that actually played the game and he played more than I did by like 3x the amount.

I'm not even upset about the solo/duo being removed and honestly always felt it needed to stay a trio game forever. DaD is the most fun in 3v3s. There is less 3rd party situations and overall the game can be balanced properly because at the end of the day NOBODY can be happy since Cleric is strong for completely different reasons in solo vs trio and its the same with druid. In trio druid is ok but solo its completely busted. Rogue is not very good in trio but is insane in solo. Its a game where there is basically no possibility to balance due to the nature of the game. They should've left solo/duo out until they got the main game finished or at least close to finished and then drop solo/duo.

I love DaD and took vacations off work for the wipes at some points. I know I dropped like 200 hours in the 2nd playtest and knew I'd love this game forever. The last couple wipes have been hard for me to be engaged in and they need to figure out the quests and make them more enjoyable. Also dungeonborne was and always will be a quick asset flip trash slop. Game was so horribly made and rushed it felt like I was playing a mobile game. Combat was literally worse than phantom forces on roblox my guy. So idk how you think it was the better game.

The player numbers dont show this yet at all. Numbers are currently down from 12k top to 8k, and we are not even at the peak time of day where the players are online.

1 single look at the streamcharts or just log in the game, and you can see that it's the number of players, if you're mad about the changes you can say you are mad and don't agree with it, you just don't need to lie about things.

Ink13569: so bear in mind I have been a solo player since 2022 started with playtest 4. now I haven't even sort of no-lifed the game all of that time but i still have around 600ish hours across fighter, wiz, and now sorc. I love solo play, the main reason I came back to this game and not a valorant or ow or marvels or whatever there is now bc i think random queuing in these kinds of games is just not fun. sure sometimes you get great teammates that are amiable and useful and it makes for a really good spontaneous interaction. but those nuggets of interactivity are so far and few between; mostly you just get people apathized by the anonymity of solo queue and their worst sides come out. ive been playing these team based games now for well over 10 years and thats enough time to pick up on the type of behavior that that system encourages. and in a game where you lose everything, having unreliable factors at play is just not fun.

i really think the transition to trio only wouldn't be that bad if 1. they just never added solo and duo and i would've started building a discord years ago. or 2. they need some kind of in game social functionality. the chat channels are just not enough and are wells poisoned by RMTers and griefers. think if they had some kind of guild system like any MMO, you could join cliques of players with similar mindsets to you (casual, hardcore, bossing, pvp, etc) and easily have a list of those people that are online or already in a dungeon similar to how we see people now in menu. from there, there could be a whole host of social features like guild banks, discounted trades between guildees (might not be good for rmt), and even guild quests to work toward and unlock small buffs like religion. knowing ironmace this is probably like a year long endeavor with SDF stopping to check every line of code before its committed but i think it wouid do a lot to ease the transition. i guess its time for us solo folks to adapt or leave en masse to try and force SDF's hand.

allan43621: dungeonborn was not better.. that said i agree that the decision to remove singles and duos really hurts the core of what made DaD great - the random pvp encounters in the dungeons - now I can only get that if I have 2x friends online at the same time as me because I will not trust my gear to randos and i will not fight at a numbers disadvantage in pvp

dslims1: First off you cant use the graph that you are using for All-Time. That shows outliers in data from launch when clearly the numbers would be vastly higher. Your argument is that removing this feature has hurt the game. Last month alone this game gained 40% to its player base making an average of 10k players online which has been the average for 6 months. Your argument is baseless that the game is dying and you dont have the numbers to back that up.

Slice155: There is no way to balance solo duos and trios think abt it if you balance something for trios it makes it op in solo if you make something balanced in solo it’s not good enough for trio stop complaining abt low roller modes and focus on team play and strategy’s

the entire game was a mobile gacha ported to steam, the art of the game was cheesy as hell.

It was never at any point balanced it suffered even more so from balancing problems than DnD has ever and thats saying aLOT.

Death Knights were the most broken incarnation of bullshit that's ever been slapped into an extraction game.

2nd, This isn't some new thing Ironmace hasn't done before.

They have at no point ever valued their players input & opinions and have always seemed to lack clear direction/motivation.

The entire lifetime of this game has been a clusterfuck of terrible patches with game-breaking midseason drops that can make/break not only the classes people play but the game itself with ques/maps.

This game isn't even two years old yet and it has more ridiculously stupid patch note drops than i've ever seen in any other game with much longer life spans.

Dark and Darker is seemingly destined to die young but the good news is theres clearly a dedicated audience for this type of game, we just unfortunately have to wait for another studio to put two & two together and give us another alternative, because Ironmace simply is not the answer we need.

Let the game die.
