yournostromo7421: Bruh, we took two years just to fully finish a circle.
SNUSNU4U: Selling people on PVE mode and then removing it 3-4 months later needs to be investigated by consumer protection for bait-and-switch practices, if it goes through.
FernandoSanchez-gp9qf: SDF doesn't belong in game development. He really just doesn't. It's not for him.
TheJamesboink: Immediate thought: if you think in terms of "realism" and not fun for games, you are not a good game designer. Period.
Mobay18: Bought the game for solo play after watching countless of youtubers play it solo. I have no intention of teaming up. SDF is incompetent.
baguetteflavoredtonicwater2674: I was about to buy the legendary status, but I think I'll just wait a couple extra years
Skooma_Addict42: I think mental illness is the only reasonable explanation for SDF chalking the game i wish he would just sell the game to another company and then go off and make his "vision"
darkducky: As soon as a dev says "I wanna make it realistic" is when things go south... source: Escape from Tarkov
Tiddoc: He is actually cooking this time, i hope he keeps his new spine
Shlaf: Sdf is just incompetent as a lead dev and the more info he gives the further this idea is cemented.
We had a good run with the game but its time for the playerbase to realise that it all downhill from here. Save yourself the suffering and just find another game to pick up.
randombrutalttv: The game isn't dying cause of lacking new content or catering to multiple game modes. That said, I'm fine with the game being only trios.
The game is dying due to moronic balancing decisions such as on demand instant transformation druid, and rogues having pure invis. And other similarly crackhead balancing decisions. I should compile a list.
aguy6641: He's going to make the game realistic just like skeletons walking around in real life.
TheOwlGilga: I like how SDF says he wants an organic experience, but then kept dropping rules like no cooperation with fellow dungeoneers, as if cooperation isn't an inherently organic human trait.
grimmz88: honestly i would take imbalanced solo mode over no solo mode any day.
like he could just keep on developing the game for trios as planned, but let people play solo if they want to, just slap a disclaimer in there that this mode is not and will not ever be balanced, play at your own discretion.
mekosuji_facemask: SDF lives inside a fantasy. He has no vision for the game, just a vision in general. He sits there, daydreams and weaves together a multi-faceted, mega-complex gaming experience... inside his head. He wants a dark mysterious dungeon with various, dynamic groups of people exploring it, with everyone having their own goals. A treacherous system of halls and corridors that instill fear into anyone that wanders into them, and so on and so forth.
None of that equates to an ACTUAL VIDEO GAME. He wants everyone to enter the dungeon with their own goals in mind, yet the game is... an extraction shooter. The map can be traversed in a minute by every class. Ever since the first playtests the only GOAL anyone has ever had is to get loot.
Bro's dreaming about making an MMO while cobbling together an extraction shooter with Unreal Engine assets.
Albacksen: I'm kind of a new players. So I'm missing some historical context. But am beginning to think that the playerbase, or at least the part of it being most vocal, needs a break from the game.
Whatever lets SDF make more consistent patches and focus on making more content and refine the systems that are there is good. If this new direction does that, good.
But I can't imagine the frustration he must feel listening to one camp, getting yelled at by the other, listening to that camp, getting yelled at by the other and so on for all eternity.
I think the best example I can think of recently is when lots of streamers and players were whinging about the amount of queues. "Oh the amount of queues are the problem. Without this change the game will die!" Then they try to consolidate the queues.
"Removing queues! Oh no the game will die what are they thinking!" Sometimes even the same streamers/players saying both statements.
Maybe. Just maybe, there's a little bandwagoning going on because players just want to see some change but don't know what they want or how to fix "the problem". Or... I think even identifying/agreeing on what the problem is.
From my humble perspective, it doens't seem like SDF isn't the only one being inconsistent. So are the players/streamers.
aguy6641: Once random modifiers are gone I wont be playing.
LaserReptar: Played since PT.1 and man is it sad to see this game just dropping the ball in so many ways. A lot of which could be rectified if they had just added more depth to the combat/fixed blocking/added skill trees.
Things like movement speed kiting wouldnt be an issue if every class or weapon had their own gap closer ability or CC.
Classes like Druid and Barb also wouldnt be so dominant if we had a kick of shove and proper blocking to stop their oppressive onslaught.
What this game needs are nore robust mechanical features, not just dial switches that keep going back and forth to adjust balance.
reptilian4204: yall hating but i think he had to make these mistakes to realize that he doesn't need to make a pub stomping game. We were all too addicted to gear rolls but its time for the game to be actually exciting and ominous.
sean4890: I think it makes a lot of sense, from a developer PoV, to put everyone on an even playing field and then tackling game systems and balance. The problem is putting everyone at that states makes the game significantly less fun to actually play as the players wait for the game to develop
happyaccidentmaker: Not sure how you can make an rpg looter without gear being an "end game"??
Okay, so what's the point of doing the content then? Cosmetics? Titles? Little plush toys for your tavern room? Lol... You're literally delving into danger for... LOOT.
Why would anyone bother to boss, just get purples/legendaries in a day, then play arena for the rest of wipe, or until you're tired of it...
If gear gap is the issue... oh i dont know... maybe matchmake with an algorithm to bring in the gear gap extremes? Maybe a bottom-up lobby and a top-down lobby (fill from highest gear score in queue to the 2nd highest, and so on until full. Same with lowest gearscore to 2nd lowest or something
ReavenM1911A1: Completely remake gear but come up with a NEW SYSTEM! Look at Mistfall hunters, they copy Monster Hunter for skills that activate like passives, something new like that instead of just raw straight up stats could be interesting. We need new stuff not just changing numbers.
JtotheDoubleL: So basically he wants a more casual version of the game where the gear doesnt really matter and everyone is homogenized down to just how classes are balanced. Sounds like hes taking the easy way out and dumbing down the game so his job of balancing the classes is as easy as possible. This game is cooked. Why would I even bother playing if theres nothing to strive for. Where is the jeopardy. We are back to square one. SDF really has no business developing this game anymore. Its obvious he's not fit for the job.
Isaax: Make Terence the sole game designer of DaD. Let SDF work on a new game, entirely under his control. Terence continues the game in his direction (the correct one for which people loved the game in the first place) and SDF can cook up whatever he wants without it ruining the product we spent 30 bucks and thousands of hours on. It's really that shrimple
Zachius920: having messed with the test server a bit, I do actually think that removal of random mods is a good call, yeah it kills socketing and the market completely but the market is so inflated rn anyway it doesnt matter. maybe it stays in within a limited capacity. say all gear gets one random mod with set % increases instead of a range so gear still matters more than just rarity. I do in fact hope the game pulls itself out of the tailspin and recovers. I will hold faith a bit longer.
