Shopping CartRussanoGreenstripe: Fun fact, the Adventurer Squadrons still use the HW era mechanics when on Command Missions. So they will use Flash, Shadow Flare, and the cone version of Overpower, for instance.
Ktjnn: Once they added Total Eclipse, it became shield oath on and Flash the pack a couple time, then sword oath and spam Total Eclipse. I miss old enmity and tank stance system tbh
Labbish1: I can't believe someone actually miss this old paladin. It was very clunky.
anthonydelfino6171: Flash also blinded the enemies, so paladins would also sometimes reeuse it after going into the single target combo as a little bit of mitigation
PizzaPasta-t7u: Interesting fact: Tanks today don't even know what threat and enmity is.
Blaze1337: Oh god, Flash, it's been so long since I saw that tooltip.
Shogunelite: those were the dark ages for Paladins
saymoncardoso656: I kind of miss some of the complexity the combat used to have, it was messy, but I liked the cross class system
TheBorzoi: Flash generated a tonne of enmity and also inflicted Blind.
In bigger dungeons where pulls were huge, it was worth spending all your MP to generate so much enmity that it was pretty much impossible to rip it.
Total Eclipse didn't generate additional enmity when it came out so PLD still needed to use flash a couple times to ensure they had enough enmity.
GremDisaster: I liked Flash. Wish they kept it and just added damage to it. It also caused blind but only for Paladin, other jobs didn’t get that bonus.
RazlaMau: Extra Information for Flash -> It even generated Aggro when the Target was Immune to Damage which was not Possible for Warrior and Darkknight (A11S Limi Cut Phase)
Also Flash put a Blind Debuff on Enemies on Hit which could reduce alot of Damage from Adds in Dungeon and some of the Raidtier Adds
drake713: The tanks sounds so special whenever I hear about older expansions
HaitaniMasayuki: Didn't Flash also give enemies the blindness debuff? ... or am I just mixing this up from FF11?
Meru_777: I’m I the only one that thinks total eclipse icon looks like a thumb
KingCloudsCape: Flash actually didn't generate threat originally; what it would do was place you at the top of the enmity list for each enemy. I.E. If the BLM had 200 enmity on an enemy, you'd get 201. They changed it later so that it also generated some, as certain situations made it super wonky otherwise. But I do remember strats like the warrior spamming overpower so the PLD could use flash and be able to stick at the top of the enmity list.
Catzillator: flash!!
ApolloYves: this thing was so aess, cause without damaging component it generated too little enmity. so you spam flash to gerate as much threat as you can and then go doing your single target combo on every mob in the pack, adding some riot blades to get mp and to spam flash again. and yeah, blind was pretty much useless, cause get immune for some time after you reapply debuff, and spamming flash almost instantly made enemies immune to blind. tanking dungeons pre level 40 (or was it 45) as pld was like top ten tankxiety experiences, cause also no shield oath for extra threat generation.
Tchuwib: But all that blind !!
gabrielS.A7164: Mmm... Maybe if flash can't cause blind...mmm.. is a shame as remover skills as remade is a opción
IAmMugel: And I'd gladly go back to flash instead of total eclipse because there were a lot of other super cool abilities removed from multiple other classes (RIP Circle of Thorns for Dragoon and Shadow Flare for Summoners and Scholars
DracoSuave: Even more real: neither did Warriors because of the TP cost being so high. Only DRK could reliably hit AoE spam.
IosLocarth: Wasn't total eclipse also a level 60 ability when it was added? I remember not being able to use it in level 50 and maybe level 60 content
carlitoxcalaverita2102: Abyssal drain was spammable???
darkmirror21: ah yes, back in the day when tanks didn't just have to stand in front of the boss. Now it's just a glorified dps that holds enemies in place.
Gho5tdSS: Flash? Feels like ages since ive heard that mentioned.
