thegreatfrosting: i want to say somewhere during the live letter it was mentioned that the reason you cant use weapons on other weapons is because of animations. i would not be surprised if the dev team just decided shields and books share enough overlap with their animations that they are fine to be allowed in the glam system (especially since a lot of books are just slight variants of each other)

sudonym2078: I've been saying this might be possible since the announcement was made. Go back and look at the actual wording of the announcement. It says that the reason for the weapon restriction is because of the weapon types. And each job uses different weapon types except for technically scholar and summoner. WHM uses a 2 handed cane, Blu uses a cane, BLM uses a staff... Paladin uses a one handed sword, viper uses twin blades... Scholar and Summoner not only both come for Arcanist but they both use the same weapon and more over dont they have many of if not basically the same animations?

(Yes I know weapon types are also listed as "white mages arm" ect. But I dont think that's what they actually meant.)

TheAnimePirate: Also works for shields if you have WHM/BLK shields to put on your PLD and vice versa. Not that they do one handed caster weapons after level 30 any more...

maddikitten1306: I think that's a feature since both classes shared so many things for so long. They're books. You won't tell the difference unless you play both classes other than DPS or Healer symbol. The devs likely intended it as a treat. Compared to other distinct weapons they're both books

OmegaEnvych: YoshiP stated that primary limitation for glamour were weapon animations - Warrior couldn't pick up sword because some animations would've been weird. So I guess when animations allow it, they see no reason to lock them

ChaosAngels16: I doubt this is a bug, it just makes the most sense given they literally use the same weapon. I'd be surprised if the Devs DIDN'T deliberately make this possible and it was an accident.

bolladragon: My best guess is it's because they both start as Arcanist, too. Lot's of shared models and animations. Lots of base books worked for all three before the unlock.

I just swapped to making SMN my main and was STOKED to discover it worked for SCH too!? My favorite book can work on both!!

encapturer: I dont think the devs had to do anything special. They just removed all soft limitations of glam. Level or job does not matter anymore. Gender and race locks are hard, and so are weapons, mostly.

If you look at low level books (like, level 5), they are listed for ACN, SMN, and SCH. All three. So it's a soft lock on par of artifact gear not letting classes use them. I was wondering about Arcanist's Grimoire vs Scholar's Arm, but I think that exist specifically to sort and search.

For something that would act need work, Id imagine BLM/WHM 2hand vs wand and shield is a hard limitation though .

FoxJayvids: I do hope they keep this. It makes a lot of sense because before being a SMN or SCH, the player was an Arcanist.

Arcanist books at Lv 30 are stated with both Mind & INT. It's neat that they did this for those jobs.
