FFXIV 7.4 MSQs MASSIVE Reveal

MisoSouperstar: "And every world shall tremble"

I smell Ultima

HawkinaBox: I loved how the cutscenes were far more animated

adamosborne9440: First time since post-EW I've been like "...yes.... I would like to know more..."

Dsty2001: I wouldn't think an Ascian would refer to Hydaelyn as the will of the Star. I imagine they are speaking of Zodiark, I'm wondering if the death of Zodiark and the immense amount of aether released after that isn't impacting things negatively in some fashion.

palablink550: Insane upgrade in quality int this patch, they must have sacrificed some people in the dev team lol

blueskyflips: This story left me wanting to know what was going to happen next after every quest. I was excited. Loved the new area and worldbuilding. Krile got to be a hero, it was epic.

1337penguinman: Spoilers:

My theory has always kinda been that the key is another method for rejoining the shards. One Azem figured out that doesn't require the massive loss of life and calamities using the traditional Ascian method. And we're going to actually have to do that to prevent this "withering" from happening. Probably involving us traveling to the various shards.

EmperorPylades: For additional context about Calyx and Halmarut, the researcher that was infatuated with Calyx that we learned about in 7.3 was named Demetrius. In Greek, that name roughly means "Of Demeter", Demeter being the goddess of the seasons, plants and agriculture. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the cute lizzer's real name is Demeter.

SuperRamos619: I think the Winterers are the "bad guys" but not the threat. Basically, they are the next Warriors of Darkness.

LoreNexusWorld: The Twelve left behind an Instrument in the Omphalos which is used to stabilise the Star through hope and prayer. So we might see Deryk/Oschon return to help out in 8.0

Pikaru-c4u: Finding calis was a teddy bear was hilarious but I like the new girls hair, they at listening and we’re getting long hairs

Deathwig1: I wouldn't just say it's the 7.4 story J.

After playing the 7.3 story it definitely felt like something had changed in the writers room. Maybe I'm coping but If this continues into 7.5 things might be bright for the 8.0 story.

SPOILER AHEAD

There's a detail about the AuRa at the end that I noticed. She's the only one we've ever seen that has green scales as all the AuRa we've currently seen both npcs and player characters have either blue or white scales.

X99-h6r: treno looked amazing.

TheProphet49: If we get reference to the Heart of Sabik in 7.5, I think we are back on track for Ultima/Altima as an antagonist power for the next BIG arc. I like the idea, very FFT, that because of our position and perspective as the WoL that someone else ecen with good but different intentions (aka Delita / Winterers) would use us as a wrecking ball when possible but see us as a great threat at the same time. The WoL would be hard to convince to force a calamity but maybe that leads to less overall death? Who can say?

apal5757: They gotta keep these writers, man. 7.2-7.4 have reminded me why I love this game’s story.

PetarBladeStrok: EASILY the best writing that we've got since 6.0 base EW: I'm so pleasantly surprsied. Krile's story really hit. Halmarut's potential as a character seems amazing!

bolladragon: The twins left the story, and immediately I noticed that the type of friendly banter that they would normally get was instead given to Krile and G'raha. It was both really refreshing and showed a side of each we never see since they're also working partners and old friends. G'raha seems way more relaxed with Krile around, and Krile is so nice while also showing that she'll take the piss out of him and others.

I want this dynamic to keep going. I love G'raha, and this patch really cemented Krile as a fav, too.

(Also. I like G'raha's apparent new VA, despite the meltdowns over the sudden change. He did great!)

nexmeles8023: I feel like Venat and Zodiark dying kind of messed up the balance. Like the unforseen effects of sundering and aetherial dilution...

Also I'm going to be honest... I think she was legit terrified of us. She and Calyx might have that in common .. they know they can't take us one on one. So what will they do?

Peace141308: I will say this personally, if the writers REALLY can't let go of the ascians as part of the driving force of the story, can we like...have them wanting to help us or we befriending one of em' like with Gaia instead of being against them for the trillionth time? Because I'm kinda tired of being pitied against them all the time.

Yokai_Yuri: Friendly reminder: All of the events that might lead up to 8.0 are the president's plan.

Yorus_Simp: Calyx as a plushie is peak. That's it, that's the comment

vincentbeton: Plot Twist : Halmarut kinda overslept in Endwalker, missing the return of the Final Days since it only lasted for like a week in canon and had not affected the other Shards. She expects the Ballad of Oblivion now that Zodiark is gone.

Would honestly be pretty lame, but who knows?

I wonder if they'll do anything with those Fissures. Sounds to me like the Voidgate we widened in Endwalker...so could regular travel between Shards be actually much easier than expected? Or will they use them to reach in from another Shard to yoink the Key out of our hands? That would be silly but maybe work xD

TheEarthnicity: I met Lummul and immediately fell in love with him lol

kingfreedom160: This is getting me close to renewing my subscription, but I'm gonna wait until I know more about what's coming with the next expansion, mostly through reviews, before I make a final decision

winterweather0091: Good to hear about the story telling finally improving, a potential lady-Fandanial and chucky..? Do you feel it sort of might go Calcobrena angle in the future with lil.C?

Like take one of them summoning crystals and become a big ol doll ya gotta fight off?

pimsutter: While I did give a few hot take on msq video yesterday. I recently got a hot take thought that came to me. If this withering is going to happen, why hasn’t Venat and Emet-selch, the watcher, and the twelve warns us about it?

It’s possible that Halmarut is being fooled by someone or something that wants to be the will of the star and it’s manipulating her to get what they want. It’s one of the possibilities I had for a while, but it I think it’s not far-fetched.

tatersalad76: My crackpot theory is that they're going to drop the Eighth Umbral Calamity on our heads in Patch 7.55. The bubble connecting The Ninth to The Source pops, the storm surge decimates The New World, and the Warrior of Light is last seen charging into the storm to save lives, presumed lost in the chaos.

Yoshi P announces they're going to shut the servers down for a few months (2 or 3) to scrub the spaghetti out of the code so the game can run better, or better yet just swap everything over to a powerful new game engine (which would take months to translate the spaghetti code over to the new engine so everyone can keep their stuff).

The Warrior of Light awakens once again in a world changed by the Calamity they were believed lost in. And now they need to find their friends (the twins finally hit their growth spurts, Thancred has reached final stage of Unc status, etc.), figure out how far along The Winterers have gone, and how they can stop them. Eorzea is largely fine thanks to how much we strengthened their bonds, but other lands are struggling to stay afloat.

With a new game engine, they can have new instances for Past and Present so players don't miss out on Relic Quests or other side quests they neglected to do. That can be handwaived away with the Crystal Tower since we time travel every time we FATE farm in Elpis. Excuse is that we travel back to right before the Calamity happened
