I Shouldnt Have Beaten Elden Rings Hardest Boss

iergosum: I love how much you just genuinely laughed while learning her. That’s what these games are all about. If you dont see it as an uphill impossible thing on this difficulty pedestal but rather a fun challenge, it becomes a much better experience. Learning movesets in souls games is the best

Kaelaen: Not now Kev, I'm busy watching a Youtube video

hellohologram: You have such a good attitude towards hard bosses and I'll be so sad when you finish this game because I'm really enjoying your first playthrough. GGs Kev!

garymcjerry: Kev is so underrated

jpteknoman: No matter who you defeat, gravity will always win in the end

NeedsContent: Nicely done. Mad respect for sticking to your guns

the_crisp9: Let's fucking go, Kev!! Yeeeeeeee

I did 15 hours of attempts over three days similarly and Malenia is a peak gaming experience no doubt.

alexsterling5788: Hell yeah, do it your way! I too chose not to optimize and while I was probably overleveled I had spread out my stats evenly in everything but Vigor. I was playing as a generalist so I could try as many things as possible and refused to respec for Malenia. It was grueling but it was absolutely worth it! You can only have that experience once, every subsequent Malenia just isn't the same, but you'll always remember the high from that first victory!

kirouac666: I am Malenia,blade of miquela

CasHanover: Hey Kev. Genuinely thank you for this series, its been amazing (one of my favorite on this whole platform this entire year). I was watching stream tonight, right after you won and I was curious. I tried to super chat, because I felt this series has been amazing and I want to pay for it. Its worth the money, its brought me more than much joy. But YouTube was being weird and it wouldnt go through. Do you have super chats disabled, or was it purely on my end? Because I genuinely want to repay some of this, I was just hoping to do it during the stream you beat the base game.

Laoruperteen18: Id like to point out, that you can play the game however you want, and use whatever methods you desire. Even wearing the bald-man blessing, radagons seal, spirit summons, no pants, inefficient stats and weapons isnt off the table. But the difference between you Kev, and 99% of other players, is that you KNOW how you are nerfing yourself, you realize each of the things you do that put you at an unnecessary disadvantage, in addition to the stuff you ARENT aware of because its literally just your first playthrough. Most other people, havent got a damn clue about how severely they hinder themselves, and as a result, they rely on crutch weapons and crappy playstyles, i see it almost every single day when i invade. Everyone is a clone of one another, with the same mindset, same kind of armour, weapons, zero points invested into health and all their stats badly split, or just put everything into damage stats, or using the Mimic to put the game on auto-pilot for them, even their playstyle is identical. You know how bad your actual character is, but YOU yourself are a really good player. Thats what makes you great :D

I do hope sometime soon, that you do fix your character up though, and realize just what kind of potential you couldve been sporting the whole time, no nerfs, because the DLC WILL destroy you, even without the nerfs you give yourself, trust me, it aint worth it, you might as well make your guy the best he can be to give them their best shot, youll need it...seriously...Malenia is a joke compared to what lies ahead. If you actually want to "Nerf" yourself in the DLC, there is a difficulty mechanic introduced in the game called Scadu (Shadow) Fragments, if you activate them, you gain a permanent buff, in the DLC areas, but its permanent, so, i propose, that you make your character as epic as you can, but you DONT use any of the Fragments, you raw dog the DLC at base difficulty for as long as you can, and just adjust the Scadu difficulty just enough, so that you arent fighting an impossible fight, but so the DLC remains a challenge, without overbuffing and turning it potentially into a joke. Have fun!

BLM.MASTER: Stream tonight Kev?

titaniumteddybear: Kev: it's Elden Ring. All victories are valid, no matter how you got them. "Let me solo her" himself says that the first time he beats a boss he hits them with everything he's got. Spells, summons, rot pot, whatever. It's only later that he refines his technique down to only the things he absolutely needs. Well played dude. This was epic. You freaking earned this win.

clemens8715: Huge respect for beating malenia your own way.

For me it was the first boss i had to cheese because i didnt have the nerves to give her a fair fight.

Giant hunt and keep launching her into the air was really fun nonetheless haha

lamecgod: glad to have shown support with this account and my other account. May you win all other encounters!

yzumarinho: I can't believe that when you finally try to use waves of destruction on her bloom animation you did it too late and missed it

ldyjaybx1: Yessss so glad I was watching this battle live even though it took a couple of streams u did it!!!!

retmib: already excited for when you gonna be in the DLC area haha

curious if Kev will check out DS1 after?

yesiagree5653: I am Malenia blade of Miquella

shrimpus_of_truth: 20 min ago is toe tickling

mathew-oq9cf: are you going to the dlc?

ZSlayer-vz2jc: Great job on Malenia and great patience. These soul games aren't about getting it on the first try and it is good to go through the learning experience for a tough boss. I have been playing through this game and recently beat Malenia and Dragonlord Placidusax, the former after quite a few attempts so I know the feeling.

The interesting thing about Malenia is that even though her movesets and abilities largely remain the same, at each NG level it is like a fresh challenge.

Even if you have figured out various ways to beat malenia there are times you will repeat this fight quite a bit, it is designed that way. But it is the best fight in the game by far, so I don't mind. Plus, while Malenia is tough she is fair as well, some of the other relatively easier bosses can be really cheap in higher NG cycles and feel not that well designed.

I am yet to catchup on all your content, but have you played the optional hidden boss in Farum Zula - Dragonlord Placidusax ? Certainly worth trying, he is this game's equivalent of DS3's Midir and is by far the best boss after Malenia - won't take you as many tries as her, but he is a real fun endurance test. Great intro cutscene and arena as well.

SilentSputnik: Waterfowl dance is BS. It's a bad mechanic tbh. I dodge it by spacing heavily when I know it's in her moveset.
